Elephant & Co. in Kalyani Nagar has cemented its place as one of East Pune's premier party spots, known for exceptional cocktails, delicious food, and a lively crowd of 20- and 30-somethings. Tasked with a fresh vision, our clients sought a sophisticated, earthy, yet welcoming vibe. Partnering with talented interior designer Oormi Rohra, we reimagined the bar into a space that perfectly balances the charm of a local haunt with the allure of an upscale cocktail lounge.

The double-height bar area features a vaulted ceiling with cove lighting casting an asymmetrical glow as the primary ambient light. Adjustable double-headed downlights, discreetly mounted in black boxes on the beams, highlight the bar and central Elephant sculpture. Honeycomb louvers minimize glare, creating a seamless visual effect that enhances comfort throughout the space overall visual comfort of the space.
The dining area under the mezzanine features moody lighting, with surface-mounted adjustable fixtures that highlight the niches and tables. An LED tape behind the banquette creates a soft glow, accentuating the lime-plastered walls. A custom stainless steel wall sconce was designed to create a floating effect with hidden lighting, adding a touch of wonder. Rechargeable lamps on the tables increase illuminance, providing focused light for diners.
Layers of light define the distinct volumes within the space, with softly lit niches creating a monolithic, cohesive feel throughout.
The image captures the relationship between the interior and exterior spaces. The central indoor area acts as a glowing box, emitting light to the outside, while the exterior is designed to be quieter and darker for guests who prefer a lower lighting setting.
In the early evening, discreet spike-mounted up-lights positioned behind the planters cast dramatic shadows and striking silhouettes, transforming the ambiance as day melts into night.
The outdoor area lighting, as captured here, reveals the finished design: a cavern-like, carved-out space where lighting and architecture seamlessly intertwine. A custom designed decorative pendant to look like a rock with lava inside.
The Brewery Zone channels the charm of a German biergarten, illuminated by rechargeable table lamps, gentle indirect lighting, and striking decorative fixtures that bring the space to life.
This section of the outdoor area highlights another lighting detail, where we chose to illuminate the back wall instead of the planters from front creating an even graze and beautiful silhouette.
